Camp Albemarle: a unique community resource!

Encroaching urbanization of the surrounding area made it clear that on-site security and basic maintenance support were critical to the Camp’s future. While the Board of Directors enthusiastically responded with their volunteer efforts, it became clear that there is no substitute for having a responsible individual on site. To provide less places this unique community resource needlessly at high risk.

The solution to this dilemma features a “Camp Caretaker” to accomplish essential security and maintenance functions and to live on site.  This required the building of a caretaker’s residence that will include a camp office and storage shed. Basic maintenance equipment is also required for ongoing grounds and facility maintenance.

After an extensive campaign, a caretaker’s residence was built this past summer. Its simple design and structural strength will amply accommodate a small family and an accessible camp office and efficient repository for the Camp’s administrative materials.

The need for financial support is still here. With an added residence, Camp Albemarle has additional expenses. Donations are being requested. To learn more, please contact Elly Tucker at ellyt@aol.com. Please send donations to:
